Becoming a Hockey Official

We are always looking for new officials to join our association

To be eligible to work games for the Peninsula Hockey Officials' Association, you must first complete all of the registration steps with USA Hockey.  These include

• Registering with USA Hockey for the appropriate level (first year as level 1, then progressing through the levels each year to level 3 or 4) You can begin your journey by registering here: https://membership.usahockey.com/ This is separate from your registration as either a player or a coach)

• Completing appropriate on-line training modules through the new USA Hockey Learning Management System

• Complete Safe-Sport Training (for officials 18 and older)

• Complete the on-line "rule book exercise" this is similar to and replaces the old "open book test"

• Attending Appropriate Seminar Training:

  • Some seminars are offered in person, others are offered on-line. You do not need to attend a seminar in Washington, you can attend a seminar anywhere in the country.

• Completing an on-line background check (for officials 18 and older)

• All officials MUST register with USA Hockey by 20 November 2025 and you must complete all of the above registration steps by 31 December 2025
